The Sweet Iron Copper Tom Thumb is a double jointed gag type bit with copper rollers. The french link is good for horses that need a stronger bit but are reluctant to take a contact in the single jointed bits, whilst the copper and sweet iron increase salivation and give the horse a warm metal within his mouth to increase acceptance of the bit.
The main action of the Tom Thumb is to apply poll pressure through the use of the rein on the bottom ring.
